The challenge was to design an appropriately upscale interior for a boutique hotel at the existing Locks Gallery Building at Washington Square. The concept was inspired by the grandeur of the Art Deco period and the glamour of a swing era nightclub yet with a contemporary approach. Perforation was utilized as a language to define spaces, as an acoustical control device, and as an approach to revelation and privacy. A copious amount of art, of and inspired by the period, were specified as a nod to the Locks Gallery.
