Upper East Side Sanctuary

A thorough renovation of a modern three bedroom apartment with exceptional views of Central Park South involved a rigorous planning process to eliminate winding circulation and dark interiors. The use of living spaces is enhanced by consolidating the bath and kitchen spaces toward the interior and spreading the living, bedroom and den spaces towards the views. Precisely fabricated custom millwork is organized around a datum that is continuous throughout the spaces maintaining uniformity, connection and tranquility. Carefully crafted lighting expressions expand spaces and highlight the art collection. The space is largely white but with careful use of highly detailed stone, glass work and rigidly maintained wood panels, the space feels unidirectional, yet open at the same time. The materials emphasize a natural and restful palette with highly detailed custom stone, glass and metal work.
