Originally, the bulk of the English cottage was imported and resurrected on a lovely lakeside site fairly close to New York City. The first step to completely renovating and  updating the house for the next generation was to untangle the dark maze of additions which was accomplished by developing connections to light and the beautiful outdoor environment. The traditional hand hewn framing timbers, solid walnut floors and doors and hand forged hardware were respected and continued throughout the modifications and re-arrangement of the structure. Carefully planned lighting, luxurious fabrics and finishes with bright color and bold pattern add additional brightness to the house; whereas the modern gestures in the kitchens and baths comfortably blend with the historic details to set the house up for comfortable weekend living for a young family that enjoys the outdoors.
