New York, NY
The challenge was to completely refurbish and enlarge a dilapidated Adirondack style cabin. The ‘treehouse’ kitchen and dining addition are separated from the original structure by a 2 story poured concrete wall that organizes the circulation and entry points above and below on the steeply sloped site. The second addition gently extends the original structure to include a new Master bedroom, dressing area and two bathrooms that maintain the Adirondack inspired details found in the original house. The modern materials are juxtaposed against the beautiful original stone, wood and steel details to co-exist in fresh and updated harmony.
