During an Interior Architecture class, the assignment was to design a home from an existing, damaged, stone building.
In order to create a solid relation to the existing stone structure, my proposal was to complete the building with a complimenting shape made of wood, a contrasting material.
The doube height, hypogeous, livng room, is the core of the house. From the ground level, the studio and the dining room look onto it. The bathroom and laundry closet separate the living area from the resting area.
Finally the unique shape of the extended roof creates a covered outdoor portico entrance and leaves an uncovered zen garden to the rear.
