Tension was the theme of this project. I wanted my project to exude tension physically as well as symbolically. Physically, the structure looks like it is falling forward, held in place only by wires and angled rods. Symbolically, the structure represents the tension between nature and society. I created a structure that elevates people above the land to view nature. I wanted to accentuate the disconnect society has towards nature- we have to create built spaces in order to view and appreciate nature. We think of nature as something we have to experience, as something we have to travel to, instead of what is all around us.
