Nijiya Market - Tenant Improvement

This was a tenant improvement for a new Japanese market that was moving into an existing Japantown building space in San Jose.  The arrangement is simple and straight-forward and highlights the company’s signature fresh foods as a design element.  The design scope included a cold prep kitchen area that prepares fresh sushi and bento boxes at the rear of the store.  EBA also designed and supervised the installation the “shoji screen cranes.”  This was primarily to hide the back-side of shelving units.  The multi layered translucent films give a filtered visual connection to the street, provide ample lighting for the interior, and also give the market a distinct cultural design element.
