STV provided complete architectural and engineering design, as well as bidding and construction-phase services, for a four-story addition to the school’s existing brick building. The addition, which includes a new gymnasium, cafeteria and specialized instruction classrooms, was positioned behind the existing building to mitigate its impact on the look of the residential neighborhood. At more than 90,000 sf, it’s three times larger than the older building, but just a glimpse is visible from the street. STV’s design provided a high net area to gross area ratio, which maximized teaching areas and reduced construction costs.
