Curtis High School Restoration, Preservation and Rehabilitation (Staten Island, NY)

STV served as the lead architect and engineer for this five-year project to preserve and restore Curtis High School’s elaborate Gothic architecture, correct inappropriate previous repairs and return the building’s appearance to a time period closer to its original date of construction. Because the school was designated an official state landmark, every repaired element had to precisely replicate the original design. STV won numerous awards for the Curtis High School project, including Building Design & Construction's 2004 Special Commendation Preservation Award, the Preservation Category’s Best of 2003 Merit Award from New York Construction Magazine, a Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award for 2003 from the New York Landmark Conservancy and a Gold Award in Structural Systems from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York's 2006 Engineering Excellence Awards.
