The client came to studio^RISE with a complex design issue: how to add approximately 450sf to their existing mixed-use property on an already tight site. The desire was to maximize contiguous open space while allowing an addition. The studio^RISE team was able to put together various form studies, however two variations of folded planes emerged. During this process and closely working with the neighborhood HDLC, studio^RISE was able to reference the existing structures of the neighborhood and emphasis the addition as a new element with a contemporary twist.
