Martha's Vineyard Home and Guest House

This new-construction home and guest house on 37 acres in a remote area of Martha’s Vineyard overlooks the cliffs of Gay Head and the Atlantic Ocean. The house gathers around a wind-sculpted 200-year-old elm which defines the entry courtyard and anchors the house to its site. Materials, forms and patterns were chosen to be informal and timeless. Transparency is used throughout the house to pull the landscape into the living spaces.

The house uses high thermal mass, sun shades, building orientation and stack ventilation for passive heating and cooling.
