Located along the Chicago River, this high rise scheme introduces radical social and sustainable concepts to the city's Near North Side neighborhood. Initially intended to be Chicago's first residential high rise with a double skin facade, the scheme creates habitable, social space within the thermal cavity of the facade in the form of extended living spaces and communal atria. The theme of community is carried within the core of the building, which features multi-storey galleries regularly curated by adjacent art and educational institutions. These galleries are zoned every eight floors, effectively creating vertical neighborhood communities circumscribed by duplex residential units. These vertical neighborhoods are expressed along the exterior facade as truncated segments which collectively form the overall composition of the structure.
