PROJECT TYPE 3875 ft2 / 360 m2 Private Home.

SCOPE Architecture, Interior Design.

LOCATION Lake Fairview, Orlando, Florida, United States.

This project was requested by the client shortly after being advised in the purchase of the land lot. Bore test (topography revision) were encouraged to ensure the optimal use of land lot surface to design. The production of this project was coordinated with the purpose of delegating to a counterpart architect of Florida the last phases of execution both construction documents and municipal approval. Analysis of the zoning codes, structural pre-dimensioning, insertion on the plot, building envelope (monolithic and composite assemblies enclosures) cladding options, interior finishes, and roof system were analyzed and preliminary chosen. Currently this project is on hold pending for an evaluation in order to obtain bank financing.

Design Overview:

Since the inception of the project, both the client and my ideas converged towards the implementation of the minimalist style, as a lake shelter concept but made with the purpose for being a family home located in a wonderful plot, where the owners can easily enjoy paddling, fishing and sailing on lake all of the year. The exterior looks in three textures: wood, concrete formwork and white stucco, all of them chosen in accordance with the master plan, which foresees the insolation control and material wear.

The spaces are distributed on 3,676 square feet of construction; starting double-height entrance/foyer, reception hall for visitors, a guest-room with bathroom, then an open living room on the ground level effortlessly blends with the dining area for a sweeping space that flows to the gourmet kitchen which will be featured with quality appliances. It has been designed to be a versatile floor plan. Unlike second storey with a very private star-tv space including media room, kitchenette, den study, and bedroooms. Entertaining will be delight with covered alfresco dining spaces on the pool area, also with summer kitchen/grill; all looking out to the sparkling in ground resort style pool. There are four bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms and the stylish master suite has the added bonus of its own private en-suite, two walk in wardrobes and an outdoor balcony. Functionally the volume evokes a rational aesthetic, the priority maintain balanced design style with the justifiable use of every square feet traced on plane. All the social spaces (kitchen, dining and living rooms) are concentrated into one large open space. Facades are responding to percentage insolation research, satisfying the need for indoor climate control. the car garage is hidden through the use of green walls and roof in order to emphasize the main entrance which has a top altitude, equal to front lake facade. The applying of variation in the altitude of slab makes the distribution works in favor of contemplative activity of individual; the ground level goes descending in direction to the lake, while the slab goes adapting to natural plot fall, generating a soft inclined plane, luring visuals from the lake into the interior.
