PROJECT TYPE 4305 ft2 - 400 m2 Private Custom Home

LOCATION Bottom Bay, Saint Philip, Barbados. 

Despite the work was requested by the client as a preliminary design project, reached the third phase of design. Being possible to solve the usual analysis of the zoning codes, bore test (topography revision), structural pre-dimensioning, insertion on the plot, building envelope (monolithic and composite assemblies enclosures) cladding and interior finish, design, and roof system. The project is currently on hold pending further the phase of new calculations by the engineering specialties and future municipal approval for construction. Currently the client purchased a land at a different location, in which he plans to adapt this model in the near future.  

Bajan house is a relaxed yet luxurious getaway perched in the surreal cerulean waters of the Atlantic edge. In this earnest and timeless place, the architecture for this private residence is conceived as simultaneously powerful, yet comfortable; primitive, yet innovative; casual, yet elegant; raw, and yet refined. The result is a futuristic new single family house, designed to be settled into a natural attractive town from Saint Philip parish and its shoreline. The lot is located five hundred feet off one of the islands main roadways you meander along a sand driveway surounded with native vegetation, so thus forming an ideal scene for the proposal of a double pavilion, immersed within two intersected boxes. The first box housing one ground floor where are distributed: a main entrance two story foyer, reception hallway, the guest suite, kitchen-laundry, bar, dining, family room. The second transverse and overlapped box housing distributed on its ground floor: an etertainament room with summer terrace. At second floor a star tv, two single bedrooms and master bedroom. Concealed outside the house a magnificent low trimmed native landscape divided just by long glass curtain walls creating indoor-outdoor spaces in constant dialogue through the use of terraces optimized for maximum enjoyment and appreciation of Bajan tropical climate. The minimalist style get hold by a high-tech structure combined with Panelform construction system. Materials have been selected for their distinctive sincerity, environmental sensitivity, and a resonance with the vernacular. This private residence establishes a delicate, meditative and mediating space that ushers a transition from lush tropic landscape to wide languorous ocean.
