Thesis project from 5th year at Cal Poly. This project won 3rd place is the National ACSA/AISC Steel Design Competition. The concept was based on a theoretical future where petroleum costs are too high, so a low-impact solution is to convert part of the existing freeway infrastructure in LA into conduits for mass transit. This would allow people to simply drive to the nearest interchange and take transit from there. Each interchange would then become an integrated transit hub. The design is case study of a transit hub designed within the interchange of the 405 and 105 freeways in Los Angeles near LAX.
