This is a single family residence located in Newport Beach CA. I project managed this project with Sander Architects. This project was a particular challenge with consultant coordination. Whitney Sander utilizes Butler building steel frame fabricators as a structural skeleton. We wrap the steel framing with the architecture. The fabricator dwgs were very crude and basic and did not adhere to fundamental steel building drawing standards. They were basically shop dwgs so getting their set coordinated and through the Newport Dept. Of Buildings was a exercise in patience with lots of hand holding. Not something I was use to after getting the arm chair service of the steel materials companies back east. I was able to navigate the dept of buildings for the client. The steel erection process went together without a hitch. The client sold the development for double the investment from what I understand.

The Butler Bldg. strategy has its merits. Outside of the dept of bldgs. process and the steep learning curve of explaining the shop drawing set to plan checkers - I enjoyed the process and found the actual field installation very efficient. The project completed construction in 2013
