This is a two unit residence set in West Los Angeles. The larger unit contains the primary use for living with 3 bedrooms, a grand room, and a loft. The smaller unit is an office space. The two units are separated by an angled concrete wall, which maintains a structural equilibrium for the tapered steel frame. The concrete wall thickens into a kitchen, bathroom, and utility room. The skin of the house is embedded with a solar heating water collector that circulates throughout the floor slabs to control the interior temperature through a radiant heating system. The tectonic quality of the house is emphasized through the lightweight steel structure anchored into the angled concrete wall. The expression through these angles emphasize the stature of the typical architectural elements in the wall and window.
