This was an industrial design studio that explored hand craftsmanship with the aid of CAD technologies. Ikebana is an attitude in Japanese floral arranging that is disciplined around the composition between flowers and vase, as well as the surrounding space. This piece was influenced by the uncontrollable behavior of vines growing in the most unpredictable settings. The vase was created to mimic that behavioral sense of the flowers by bending plywood with a resin-cement base to hold water. Digital manufacturing techniques were used to create the mold for the vase while the assembly and finishes were applied by hand.
