Panama’s waterfront is currently dominated by a major highway along the water’s edge, leaving no public space at the waterfront. The displaced soil from an upcoming expansion of the Panama canal will be used to fill a portion of the bay, creating valuable and needed public space to increase activity in the downtown area outside of the normal work week.
