Adam Francis Plummer Memorial

A real world project for academic credit, this design utilizies unused property that is part of a flood control system. The memorial is built well above flood stages and is kept close to the existing sidewalk and hill that supports the roadway. In fact, the memorial only protrudes 5' further into the property than the existing sidewalk layout. The design reroutes the existing sidewalk through the memorial as wellas provides bicycle parking and benches, as the site is adjacent to a popular cycling trail. As well, The design is scaled to work on multiple levels. Large images and text to be read by vehicular traffic, smaller scale images and text for pedestrians, and small scale text to stop and read for the complete history. As well, the design visually connects to the street and bike lane that runs directly in front of the memorial. This project was designed for the Town of Edmonston, Maryland and proceded to garner approval from the Town Board who are awaiting funding for construction.
