TETRIS

CONTEXT

Participative building is the process through which projects are designed with the inhabitants.

Tetris is a participative housing complex project in the Roserie district of Toulouse. The up-and-coming neighborhood has multiple new housing complexes in the process. The lack of coordination between them has led to a loss in identity in the neighborhood.

PROJECT

Tetris is designed with the individual tailoring of a participative project in mind. The malleable structure ensures an open floor plan with several possibilities of interior scenarios. Furthermore, the project allows the choice of lateral sliding for the loggias: wood, polycarbonate, textile, or elastic.

In order to create a place of reference and centrality in the community, the project’s intention is to revitalize the neighborhood by integrating commerces and a weekend market. Allocating the living accommodations and the garden to the upper floors ensures privacy for the inhabitants all the while exploiting the maximum real estate for commerces on the ground floor. The project is set up with a neighborhood-friendly programme on the ground floor. The tenant parking lot is surrounded by a membrane of various shops, daycares, and neighborhood committees. Consolidating the sense of community that was direly missing back into the neighborhood.
