CONTEXT

Chrysalis is an open library design for park events such as Toulouse plage. The 270ft2 pavilion accommodates both physical and intellectual nourishment.

PROJECT

The essence of the project takes its inspiration from the chrysalis; the cocoon from which a butterfly emerges. A light membrane that is impervious to rain but allows sunlight to filter through brings a hazy glow inside the curved walls. The project is breezy and ephemera. It invites passersby with the promise of shelter from the elements, sun, rain, or wind.

Six storage spaces are positioned evenly around the pavilion for books and refreshments. These can be individually locked at night.
