SUPPLY offers a warm meal and comfortable bed for its inhabitants. The warmth of the meals are only triumphed by the WARMTH of the wood and materiality that makes up SUPPLY. Natural systems take advantage of the large site, while light filters in from all directions, warming a porcelean louvre system on the west facade, and heating the greenhouse space and thermal mass on the south. Other systems such as solar panels on the roof and a grey water system that runs past the bathrooms into a cistern underground. Natural ventilation is also taken advantage of as floor vents and windows are used. A sloped roof takes advantage of stack effect venting out the upper north facade. Kitchen heat can also be captured and circulated for winter months while can be released in warmer months through the same north facade vent. All the facades maintain a clean commercial appeal relating to the commercial center across 40th street, while on the south and east facade branch-like supports anchor the structure to the ground reaching out to the community beyond.
