This urban market will unite subcultures from all over the city. It will give the community a focus by involving schools, colleges, and charities. The market environment provides a platform for young creative entrepreneurs, artists, and performers and helping them to get noticed.
Our market and community space will become a showcase for what’s going on in local design, art, craft, music, fashion, people, dance, and street performance. Through these interests, the urban market can potentially break down stereotypes, and create interest, identity and a sense of place in an otherwise run down portion of the inner city. The market and community space encourages diversity by bringing together a cultural mix that would not normally interact.
By inserting a fully functioning community environment, the degrading urban landscape of this area has the potential to build off this prototype. By bringing more people and attention to the site, the surrounding economy will benefit from the increase in activity. The once closed up, and locked up storefront will re-open to a revitalized community presence. The local economy will profit from the market and community spaces that will attract a very diverse population seeking a variety of necessities.
