Phillips Brokerage was taking over a brownstone that had been gutted
by fire, giving us the opportunity to start from scratch with a fresh
architectural design. We emphasized the history of the building,
tastefully reusing brick walls and large windows while adding
industrial elements that emphasize trust and security. The design
piques visual interest by utilizing maple in transition from the
stairs, onto the floor, and up to the ceiling - giving the effect of
movement that also suggests structural stability. We created a custom
design for the staircase, handrails, and platforms to achieve the
maximum aesthetic impact within the client's budget. The overall
effect is complemented by carefully designed details, such as the
black metal headers on the windows, exposed industrial air ducts, and
a glass enclosed conference room. We selected the furniture to tie
together the colors of the brick and maple while encouraging comfort
and work productivity.
