Greenfield building for the manufacture of medical products, In 2005 Bard Shannon Limited contracted UNIPRO to provide the detailed design and construction management services for a new production facility in the San Gerónimo Industrial Park in the Municipality of Humacao, Puerto Rico. The scope of work included the design of the new facility developed in a lot of approximately 50,000 square meters. The new building has an area of 200,000 square feet, and is designed to allow for a future minimum expansion of 40,000 square feet.
The new facility includes 15,000 square feet of new office areas as well as conference and training rooms, dining and kitchen area, bathroom facilities and locker rooms. The design also provides laboratory areas, hazardous raw material and hazardous waste storage, 65,000 sq. ft. of Clean Environmental Areas Class 100K, gowning and de-gowning area, laundry room, hand-wash area, packaging and labeling area, maintenance shop, document control area, warehouse and mechanical mezzanines. In addition, two vacant areas of approximately 10,000 sq. ft. were provided at the second floor for office expansion.
The exterior envelope of the facilities was designed and constructed in structural steel framing with reinforced concrete pre-cast panels. This project also included the design and construction of the additional infrastructure needed for the operation of the manufacturing facilities such as the electrical, sewer and water connections, a utility building, a guard house, a retention pond and an employee and visitor parking area.
