An office to be designed for a developer/builder of a small town in Chattisgarh and wanting to establish its footprints in the developing city of Raipur. Although a small 380 Sq.ft carpet area space, had a requirement of a substantially larger office space. A reception with seating, a small meeting room, Directors cabin, manager’s cabin, a pantry, a washroom and most importantly plenty of storage for the entire office. An extremely long wish list for a 380 Sq.ft space . The brief kind of re-defines the word ‘Challenge’. And this ‘challenge’ inspired us to take up the project. 

Concept note: Our vision was to make sure the above requirements don't create a visual chaos for the people working as well as visiting this office. The concept of a ‘Box within a Box’ was employed in an effort to make the plan comprehensible and circulation easily maneuverable. 

Design Process: The plan has clearly demarcated spaces with the seating, reception and meeting spaces in a linear arrangement on one side and the Director’s room, Manager’s cabin, pantry and washroom on the other side, contained inside the ‘Box’. The ‘Box’ is raised by 6” from the floor level and is finished as a monochromatic whole to emphasize the cubical feel. A cove runs around it, further defining and segregating the space from the rest of the interiors. Storage spaces are intelligently merged within the interior elements providing coherence and visual connectivity to the space. Lights have played a key role for the project establishing its existence. Already dealing with the space crunch, showcasing projects of the developers through posters and frames was just not possible and so we designed an interesting pixelated art of buildings which is stenciled on the walls of the Directors and managers cabin representing the developers experience and quality of work.
