A dramatic reimagining of a grand and beautiful Georgian semi-detached house on the edge of Blackheath; nimtim employed a light touch to create a series of new spaces consistent with the scale and quality of the original property.
Following two key principles: doing the most with the least and changing only what needed to be changed, nimtim developed a proposal that allowed drastic change to the house on a limited budget and without altering its existing character.
New sliding doors at the rear make the most of large existing openings and a super-tall slot window, formed by joining two existing windows overlooks a double height space that connects a new kitchen and an expanded family room in the basement looking onto the garden.
At first floor, a bedroom suite of rare scale with dressing room lined in dark timber and bathroom lined in contrasting white marble connected by bespoke japanese sliding doors in dark walnut.
