nimtim house

Our own house - an ongoing transformation of a 1960's townhouse adjusted over time to suit changing needs. The house has been adapted over several phases, opening up rooms, connecting spaces and converting unused parts of the house into new functions and opportunities.

The house has become a test-bed for many of our ideas - an ongoing reinvention of an unremarkable existing house, using small moves to dramatically change the character of the spaces. As an example, the house has seven fewer of its original teak-veneered doors but these have now been re-cast as a dining table, work desk and shelving.

nimtim re-designed the interior of the house, creating more light and flow through the spaces. Bespoke handmade joinery and innovative storage solutions have helped create a more open feel. Crucially however, the house very much retains its original spirit.
