HOK celebrated its return to Kansas City Tuesday, revealing new signage at what has been the offices of 360 Architecture at 300 W. 22nd St.
The event marked completion of 360 Architecture’s acquisition by HOK, a global architecture, engineering and design company with 1,800 employees. The purchase, announced in August, made Kansas City HOK’s 24th office globally.
The practice is marketed as HOK Sports + Recreation + Entertainment.

Global architecture and engineering firm HOK will acquire Kansas City's 360 Architecture.
On Tuesday, the St. Louis-based firm announced that it will acquire the sports architecture-focused firm for an undisclosed price. The merger, expected to close by the end of October, will allow HOK to set up a new sports and entertainment practice staffed with experienced and established talent.

HOK has just unveiled its design for the Obama Presidential Library. Although several institutions in Chicago have submitted their own bids for the new museum and library, the global architecture and engineering office states that it submitted this design in coordination with the Museum Campus Foundation, which is an organization comprised of a number of community groups located in Bronzeville. — chicago.curbed.com
Dubai won the bid to host the World Expo 2020, being the first Middle Eastern city selected in the Expo's 160-year history. HOK, in partnership with Populous and Arup, led the design team that developed the master plan, themed "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." Their proposal won against those from Brazil, Russia, and Turkey.
The 1,082-acre (438-hectare) Expo site is equidistant from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, next to the new Al Maktoum International Airport and near the Jebel Ali Port.
