The Architectural League of New York (Arch League), in partnership with The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), has announced the 18 winners of the 2022 Architecture + Design Independent Projects Grant competition.
According to the Architectural League, the newly-formed partnership with the NYSCA creates opportunities for independent designers based in New York to "creatively explore or research an issue or problem in design fields, including architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, community-centered design, fashion, graphic, industrial, and interior design."
The jury considered 113 applications before making its final selection. Grants totaling $10,000 were awarded within those disciplines to a variety of projects encompassing different modes of practice. The Architectural League shared that each project "reflects the variety of the entries the program received this year: they encompass different disciplines and modes of practice and will take many different forms when completed. The projects engage locales and communities all across New York."
