The annual AIA COTE Top Ten Awards highlight the work of architects, designers, and students and their efforts in propelling carbon-neutral design initiatives. Last week, the AIA/ACSA's Committee on the Environment (COTE) announced the top ten green new buildings of 2022. Today we share the top ten student projects.
"The competition recognizes 10 exceptional studio projects that integrate creative and innovative design strategies," shares the competition organizers. "These projects are designed to achieve carbon-neutral operations through daylighting, passive heating and cooling systems, sustainable materials, water conservation, energy generation, and other sustainable systems. The program challenged students to submit projects that use a thoroughly integrated approach to architecture, natural systems, and technology to provide design solutions that protect and enhance the environment."
This year's winners were selected by jury members Jennifer Cutbill of Lateral Agency, Mahsa Hedayati of Perkins&Will, Traci Rider of North Carolina State University, Pauline Souza of WRNS Studio, and Prem Sundharam of DLR Group.
