A' Design Award & Competition

The A’ Design Award & Competition is the world’s leading international annual juried competition for design and architecture. The A’ Design Accolades are organized in a wide range of creative fields to highlight the very best architects and designers from all countries in all disciplines. Entries to the competition are peer-reviewed and anonymously judged by an influential 200+ person grand jury panel of experienced academics, prominent press members and established professionals.
The 2020 Deborah J. Norden Fund
Register/Submit Deadline: Sunday, Apr 19, 2020
The Deborah J. Norden Fund, a program of The Architectural League of New York, was established in 1995 in memory of architect and arts administrator Deborah Norden. The competition awards up to $5,000 annually in travel grants to students and recent graduates in the fields of architecture, architectural history, and urban studies. 2020 applicants must submit a maximum three-page proposal, which succinctly describes the objectives of the grant request and how it will contribute to the applicant’s intellectual and creative development.
OPEN CALL: Applications for Fundamental 2020, San Jose, Costa Rica
Register/Submit Deadline: Monday, Apr 20, 2020
The Fundamental Design Build Initiative invites 10 early-career architects, designers, and engineers from around the world to San Jose, Costa Rica for a three-month summer intensive. Over the duration of the program, participants will be exposed to all aspects of a built work of design including: site analysis, brainstorming, fundraising, project management, sourcing materials, pre-fabrication, onsite construction, public relations, and preparing publicity materials. Applications are open to current or recently graduated Bachelor's or Master's students of architecture, design, or structural or environmental engineering programs worldwide.
WARMING Competition
Registration Deadline: Sunday, Aug 2, 2020
Submission Deadline: Monday, Aug 3, 2020
How will our built environment and decisions as a society react to rising sea levels, extended droughts, climbing temperatures, and other symptoms of global warming? WARMING calls on students and professionals from the fields of architecture, planning, design, and engineering; plus problem solvers from all backgrounds to help guide and imagine humanity’s pathway forward on Earth. Participants may propose strategies that prevent the rise of global warming or strategies that react to the changing world we will inhabit. Participants may also take a combined approach.
