NEW YORK, NY, November 5, 2024 ― Stephen V. DeSimone, Chairman and CEO of DeSimone Consulting Engineering, has been recognized with a 2024 Global CEO Excellence Award by CEO Monthly magazine as “Most Innovative Structural and Façade Engineering CEO.”
For over 30 years, Stephen has worked to build DeSimone Consulting Engineering into a leading global engineering services firm, providing structural engineering and related services for some of the world’s most complex and recognizable structures.
He has guided the company through a strategic global expansion and evolution focused on expanding its array of specialized services, which now include façade design, steel detailing, tilt-up engineering and detailing, wind engineering, seismic engineering, protective design, and forensic engineering, as well as risk management, dispute resolution, and expert witness services.
Stephen has led the company’s balanced, strategic growth while remaining true to the company’s core values: unwavering dedication to innovation and client service. Throughout the process, DeSimone has fostered a culture of respect and support for the skills and talents of its team members, which has earned the company top workplace accolades from publications such as USA Today, Crain’s New York, and the Sun Sentinel in Miami.
DeSimone Consulting Engineering has completed over 13,000 projects in 60 countries, including the recently completed Wasl Tower in Dubai with UN Studio and U+A Architects, the famed One Thousand Museum residential tower in Miami with Zaha Hadid Architects, and the Statue of Liberty Museum with FXCollaborative in New York City. In Boston, the firm’s structural engineers played a key role in the design of Winthrop Center with Handel Architects, which has set a new standard for sustainability and currently stands as the largest Passive House office component[RS1] in the world.
DeSimone has also been a leader in office-to-residential building conversions, recently completing the structural design for the transformation of the landmarked One Wall Street, as well as the Mandarin Oriental Residences Fifth Avenue, both in Manhattan. The firm is currently part of a project team revitalizing the iconic One Times Square tower for new uses, site of the annual New Year’s ball drop, adding a dramatic, cantilevered observation deck and new curtain wall.
In keeping with Stephen’s vision for the company’s growth, DeSimone Consulting Engineering has acquired seven businesses over the past four years, adding offices in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South America, and the Middle East. During this period, the DeSimone team has grown from some 250 to almost 700 team members.
