This is your challenge, design your vision for the future of the gas station. What will it become as drivers begin charging their cars at home, work, and the grocery store? How may they adapt to a shifting landscape of autonomous vehicles and an on-demand culture? The electric car revolution is here and it's up to us to pave the way for the future. In this competition you'll choose an existing gas station and design a solution for how it may adapt to a changing future.
Urban Confluence Silicon Valley Competition

In the gateway of Silicon Valley, at the confluence of two rivers, the world connects. San José Light Tower Corporation plans to build the most meaningful structure in the history of this hotbed of opportunities and present it as a gift to San José, Silicon Valley, and the world. The competition seeks a transformative design complete with dramatic lighting, a net-zero energy approach, and an impressive physical presence that will become a powerful and enduring symbol of how Silicon Valley operates as a bridge from past to present to future.
The City Link - Discovering a public space on a cycling bridge
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, Jan 29, 2020
Submission Deadline: Saturday, Feb 8, 2020
The challenge here is to design a bridge for pedestrian and cycling that is not limited in its absolute function. It must utilize the bridge as a powerful public space as well as a pioneer for tourists or first-time cyclists to explore the city. In urban areas that are already condensed with built structures, a functional bridge can be a turning point in shaping architectural experiments.
