Hangang Sky Walkway Design Competition

This contest is to increase public accessibility to the Nodeul Island upon its 2019 opening. As the current access via Hangang Bridge incurs pedestrian exposure to risks such as vehicle emissions, noise, cold and heat, the objective is to create a new “pedestrian-friendly Seoul street” where people can walk in harmony with the environment.
Call for applications: Visiting Faculty Fellowships in Design for Spatial Justice, College of Design at the University of Oregon

The School of Architecture and Environment will award approximately six faculty fellowships in design/research and teaching for durations of two terms to three years, to start as early as September 2019. We particularly encourage applications from candidates who are interested in advancing questions in spatial justice at the intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, indigenousness, sexuality, and economic inequality and who will work in a wide and innovative variety of design/research methods at all scales.

Southerly and Scalawag are partnering with the Temple Hoyne Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture at Columbia University to publish stories about climate change and infrastructure in the U.S. South. We are seeking investigative stories, reported essays, and features about the challenges Southern communities face when it comes to infrastructure—including but not limited to drinking water, energy infrastructure and transmission, or bridges, roads, and landfills—and the socioeconomic and political issues that surround them.
LafargeHolcim Awards for Sustainable Construction

The LafargeHolcim Awards seeks leading projects of professionals as well as bold ideas from the Next Generation that combine sustainable construction solutions with architectural excellence. The Awards offers a total of USD $2 million in prize money and foregrounds projects and concepts from architecture, engineering, urban planning, materials and construction technology, and related fields.
