Studio Bleak has announced the winners of their Climate of Dissent - Protest Design Challenge, which asked architects to design like activists. The competition began as a result of our growing global warming crisis with a charge that architecture should do more to respond to this encompassing issue. Drawing inspiration from political and cultural dissent erupting over around the world, the challenge aimed to bring architectural design into an act of protest to address these climate problems. The brief gave no site, budget, or timeline parameters to participants.
The jury, consisting of creative activists, architects, and educators, chose three speculative prizes and one practical prize which will be developed and implemented as a realized project. Take a look at the winning projects below:
1st Prize - Frozen Relic: Arctic Dissent
By ScanLAB / UK
2nd Prize - Eco-Shelterscape of Fishery
By Huang Yi / Taiwan
3rd Prize - Treevotees
