academic talks and events in the Architecture field as everyone returns from their adventures to the city. With London Design
Biennale and London Design Week right around the corner, make sure that you get to this week's offerings of talks, walks, and
tours before your diary is filled with Autumns programme of events.

Serpentine Pavilion | Until 7 October

Saturday Talks: Joseph Constable on Serpentine Pavilion 2018 | 1 September
If you haven't already made your way to the Serpentine Pavilion this summer, take the time to visit this year's structure designed by Mexico-based architect, Frida Escobedo. The youngest architect to design a Serpentine Pavilion, Escobedo has a fascinating background in public art and urban design as well as an evident architectural talent. A talk on Saturday from assistant curator Joseph Constable will discuss the project and the inspirations behind the eyecatching design. While you're in the park, make sure to take a final look at the Mastaba project, floating on the Serpentine Lake before it is dissembled on 9 September.
Architecture on the Thames Central | 29 August
Enjoy the last of the August air as you bob along the Thames on this river tour of central London's embankments and skyline. Participants will take in the works of 'starchitects' as well as historic monuments and bridges, with the guide explainging the design of iconic modern projects as you cruse along.
Saturday Morning Planning School | 1-29 September
This series of Saturday morning talks from The London Society focuses on 'decoding' the jargon-filled world of planning. The 5 consecutive Saturday mornings will each be based around different elements of the field, scaling up from the initial site, to neighbourhood, borough, and city.
Sir Peter Hendy's Routemaster Bus Tour: South-West Crossrail 2 route | 3 September
This tour in an iconic, vintage Routemaster bus explores south-west London. Peter Murray and Sir Peter Hendy will explain the opportunities and sites of interest which will be created by Crossrail 2, as well as ongoing and upcoming regeneration plans in the area. This tour will raise funds for widening access to the architecture profession and will be followed by networking drinks.
Behind the Scenes: The Bartlett School of Architecture | 4 September
Hawkins\Brown's approach to transforming the Bartlett School of Architecture in 2016 was fundamental in transforming how the school delivers its world-renowned programmes. This tour will be lead by Euan Macdonald (Hawkins\Brown) and Kevin Jones (UCL), and will explain the need for project as well as the intricacies of the finished school including its stunning central staircase.
