Planning ahead for another busy week in Los Angeles? Bustler put together a snappy list of architecture and design events happening around town. Our event picks for this week are: the opening reception for 2x8: Interlaced; a screening of artist Jill Magid's film, “The Proposal” — whose complex cast includes Luis Barragán's ashes set into a blue diamond; and the “Cabinet” exhibition from the USC graduating M.Arch Class of 2018. Read on for our latest weekly event recommendations.

Screening: “The Proposal” by Jill Magid | May 24
Part thriller, part romance, “The Proposal” documents artist Jill Magid as she develops her project, which explores the complex cast of characters — Luis Barragán, his descendants, a mysterious Swiss corporation, and the Mexican government — behind the blue diamond at the heart of the work. A Q&A with Magid will follow.
Cabinet: Future Precedent Opening Night | Open now until June 14
Produced by the USC graduating M.Arch Class of 2018, “Cabinet” is an exhibition showcasing the work the students created during their thesis explorations that explore and engage precedence in architecture.
