Graphic Design in Party Politics | 21 May
The past few years of elections and political unrest have seen graphic design playing a more critical role than ever before. From Brexit to Trump vs Clinton, campaigns, protest banners, t-shirts, and gifs have been able to have an unprecedented influence. This talk from American graphic designer Michael Bierut - (designer of Hillary Clinton's US presidential campaign logo) will look at the influence design had on the Presidential election, and runs alongside the Design Museum's Hope to Nope exhibition.
This week, museums all over London will be opening their doors into the night to showcase their exhibitions and treasures outside of normal hours. Take the opportunity to see these places including Newport Street Gallery, London Transport Museum and the Horniman in a whole new way - some are offering special exhibitions, workshops, and bars.
David Olusoga: Cities Imaginaries Lecture 2018
This lecture from historian, filmmaker, and broadcaster David Olusoga will be discussing his work in this year's Cities Imaginaries annual lecture and looks at how British cities were 'hardwired' to have a housing problem from the start.
Building on the Built: Carson and Crushell Architects | 17 May
Dublin-based practice Carson and Crushell will talk about their work refurbishing a Georgian townhouse in Dublin. Their work, both in their home country of Ireland and internationally, have shown their passion and involvement in architecture.
Lumen/V&A Digital Futures evening at UAL | 16 May
An evening of presentations on creative and artisitc ventures await at Camberwell UAL. This open platform of discussion will cover the opportunities and possibilities in the future of techology, design, and art. Talks and presentations from students and established designers alike will be followed by a drinks reception and networking oportunity.
LOEWE Craft Prize 2018 | until 17 June
Celebrating innovation, excellence and artistic merit in modern craftsmanship, this exhibition beings together the nominees of the LOEWE FOUNDATION's 2018 prize under one roof at the Design Museum. Visit to see how artisans and makers play a vital role in ongoing craftsmanship and culture.
