The Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, created in the early 1960s, is part of the four largest Canadian artistic and cultural institutions. Looking to redevelop and expand its spaces dedicated to public programming, the museum will convert approximately 5,000 m2 and expand 1,500 m2 of its spaces. The redevelopment program focuses on improving the accessibility and visibility of the Museum's main entrance, increasing spaces dedicated to education, and improving the overall atmosphere of the museum.
The Transformation du Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal
competition was organized in 2017 and won by Saucier + Perrotte Architectes and GLCRM Architectes. Finalists for the competition were Atelier Big City / FSA architecture, Consortium DHA / NFOE architectes, and Provencher Roy + Associés Architectes.
On the jury was Mario Saia, Marc Blondeau, Anne Carrier, Jean-Claude Champagne, David M. Covo, Alexandre Taillefer, and John Zeppetelli.
