Join Terreform and Proyecto Helicoide for the launch of “Downward Spiral: El Helicoide’s Descent from Mall to Prison”, co-edited by Celeste Olalquiaga and Lisa Blackmore. This comprehensive volume of critical essays, testimonials, creative work, and archival photography follows the successful exhibition on El Helicoide that was held at the Center for Architecture last summer.

Inside the Walls: Architects Design | Opening on January 18

“Inside the Walls: Architects Design” is a survey of seminal architect-designed furniture, curated by Mark McDonald. Drawing on archival photographs of interiors and historical ephemera, this exhibition charts revolutionary developments in architecture and design across the 20th century. With representations spanning over a century, the exhibition will present a broad range of pivotal architects from the US, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

Scaffolding | Closing on January 18

Curated by Greg Barton, Scaffolding examines the extraordinary applications of scaffolding as a kit-of-parts technology to provide novel forms of inhabitation and access. Through an installation designed by Shohei Shigematsu and OMA New York with graphic design by MTWTF, Scaffolding will disrupt the architectural space of the Center for Architecture, instilling a new appreciation of scaffolding and its transformative potential.

No-Thing: an exploration into aporetic architectural furniture | January 18-February 17

Curated by Juan Garcia Mosqueda, “No-Thing” features commissioned works from nine emerging architectural practices: Andy and Dave, Ania Jaworska, architecten de vylder vinck taillieu, Leong Leong, Milliøns, MOS, Norman Kelley, SO – IL , and Pezo von Ellrichshausen. “No-Thing” examines the prevalence of authoritative domestic practices embedded in our collective unconscious that guides behavior towards our personal possessions.
