It's back to work time, and unless you've thought ahead and booked off the first few days, then you'll be part of the over-indulged masses returning to the city this week. Ease yourself in with some exhibitions and walks around the city before 2018 kicks off.

Exhibition: Jean-Michel Basquiat | Until 28 January
and
Ferrari: Under the Skin | Until 15 January
and
Dalí / Duchamp | Until 3 January
It is your last chance to catch some of 2017's most popular exhibitions before they close. Three key exhibitions on art and design giants will shut doors in the coming days, and they are not to be missed.
Jean-Michel Basquiat's showcase at the Barbican is a celebration of the incredible work created by this artist in his tragically short life. The cult-following of his works has meant that this exhibition has been a busy one.
The Design Museum's Ferrari exhibition takes the visitor through the journey of not only the iconic brand, but of the designers, workmanship, and craft behind the process of these wonderful machines.
The Royal Academy are proud to show the works of two giants in the art world; conceptual artist Marcel Duchamp, and surrealist Salvador Dalí. The pair harboured a seemingly unlikely friendship through their careers, and were bonded by 'humour and scepticism'; concepts that are also evident in their works.
Flying Trees and Sunken Squares | Until March
The Barbican Estate and Arts Centre is a thing of brutalist science fiction, especially in the quieter winter days. The imposing concrete facades hide, however, a wild and green landscape of planned gardens and rambling plants. The conservatory is one of London's hidden gems, and this exhibition shows the history of the Barbican's "Flying Trees and Sunken Squares" through historical drawings and photographs.
Architecture Tours: Brutal or Beautiful? | Until 31 January
If the (above) exhibition sounds exciting, why not take part in a tour of the brutalist Barbican, in all it's glory. The 90-minute tour will cover the highwalks, rarely-seen sights, and historical insight into the lives of inhabitants, the oddities, and the design of the estate.
