Wondering what architecture and design events are happening around New York City this week? Start off the week at the Architectural League, whose latest Housing Brass Tacks talk will be led by Urban Homesteading Assistance Board Executive Director Andrew Reicher. Tomorrow, the Center for Architecture will open an exhibition highlighting the architectural drawings of artist Donald Judd, and Mimi Zeiger — a project curator for the 2018 Venice Biennale U.S. Pavilion — will give a presentation at the School of Visual Arts. Deborah Berke will also share what her firm has been working on. Later in the week, catch a screening of Diana Agrest's film about The Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies. In a talkative mood? Take part in an open forum on what a NYC Welcome Center could be.

Curated by Claude Armstrong and Donna Cohen, who worked as artist Donald Judd's assistants, “Obdurate Space” is the first exhibition to focus on Judd's built and unbuilt architectural projects. “The exhibition reveals how drawing and building cultures impacted his art and suggests how his work has influenced contemporary architecture.”

Mimi Zeiger, "Intersect, Instigate, Exchange" | November 14
Independent critic Mimi Zeiger will present her approaches in exploring how collaboration, structure, research, and critique shape exhibition-making, as seen in projects like the upcoming 2018 U.S. Pavilion for the Venice Architecture Biennale, the “Tu Casa es mi Casa” exhibition, and more.
Catch a screening of Diana Agrest's film, “The Making of an Avant-Garde: The Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies 1967-1984”, which documents the founding and influence of the Institute as told through interviews with today's most renowned architects.
Welcome to NYC Kickoff Event | November 16
Whether you're a longtime resident or a newcomer, all New Yorkers are welcome to participate in this open forum to discuss what a Welcome to NYC center could be.
