This is terrible news.
I understand the desire to promote American architects but please take a good look at Lincoln Center and Boston ICA before making such a a decision. The tacky detailing, exhausted formal tropes, lazy material choices, disconnected and erratic design concepts are NOT a good example ofthe best the West can offer. Mr. Broad, choosing DSR over virtually any of the other candidates shows a distinct lack of appreciation for architectural quality or innovation and places you and the institution that bears your name amongst the amateurs that do not know what they want, swept along with the most fleeting and flimsy of trends. Broad is better than this.

I think DS+R is probably a good choice, but I don't understand the leaks? Why hint and dance around it, if they're the pick, then pick 'em, don't drop a tip to Hawthorne just to get people worked up.
