The compact, two-level store itself is entirely under the plaza, but is topped by a first-ever rectangular “penthouse” composed of four single panes of glass and a roof. Portions of the store are visible through the windows from the plaza level. The store’s two glass staircases are also visible through huge glass panes over the top of each stair run on the sides of the store. — ifoapplestore.com

Especially on a sunny day.
where's the architecture...
ah...ok... :)
Remember the first iMac? Apple is now so entrenched with their current aesthetic, I wonder if we will ever see an apple store with curving, colorful panels, translucent materials, etc. Though the iPhone 5c did offer a bit of hope, the seem entrenched with the current brand of boxy, metallic minimalism that feeds both the store architecture and design of tech.
They used to be much more playful.... hmm.
