Nicolai Ouroussoff reviews Maxxi, the new museum of contemporary art designed by Zaha Hadid, in Rome. The Maxxi opens to the public on Saturday for a two-day architectural preview and is one of the few major contemporary projects in Rome which is about the future and not the past. NYT

The tickets for the 'preview opening' were in such demand that they're apparently doing the same thing next weekend... lucky for those of us in Rome who forgot to pre-book for this weekend's free tickets.
These carefully-staged photos look great - but I wonder how the space really works, and I hope I get a chance to see it before the first exhibit opens next spring.... and I hope to see some real critiques soon, though Ouroussoff's celebratory fluff is certainly better than nothing....
