To eliminate (the architect)--it also outlines a flat design fee of $999.99 for design without a site and $1,999.99 for design with a site. (SunHerald)
might not be that bad or perhaps an intentional slip on their part with regard to fees.
on the flatpack web site it actually states a higher more reasaonalbe fee.
"A complete, erected Flatpak house runs about $130 - $145 per square foot based on current estimates. This cost may increase depending on where you live, site conditions and local codes. Design fees are an additional
10 percent of total construction cost." so a 2,600 sf house would be $37,700 fee.
although i hear this arch firm [anderson something] in chi town advertising on the radio for plans starting at $500 big ones.
