So...the clowns at the library eliminated REX, OMA, etc from the first shortlist to save room for these three? Yikes. Poor Mies.
These all look pretty horrible. None of the schemes are very sympathetic to the ideas of the original building.
Seriously. Knowing how conservative D.C. is with architecture and city planning, how the hell do they plan on getting any of these through the preservation / landmarks bureaucracy? Surely Mies' only library and one with such an important namesake is a listed building, no?
