wow good news week for jeanne gang. i wondering: what exactly is the significance of being an "honorable mention" in a rfp finalist list?
like the previous Taipei competition that was supposed to be an "open" competition yet was a cover for an invited competition, this one seems to be the same case exactly. I can't believe all these offices did a completely open anonymous competition and, surprisingly, just famous names in the short-list/honorable mention...
i saw this coming...it was hosted by the same people and they used the same website layout.
we will compare their works w/ other entries (not shortlisted & chosen) posted on some blog/websites if its worth winning. if its not maybe they're just after with the famous architects or some political influence. I wish many would post their submitted entries bec in TPMC website they dont post all the submitted entries. im sure there were a lot of innovative design solutions in that competition..
It was an « open » and not anonymous competition for a Master plan concept. We have submitted our concept in a spirit of to compete with some “giants” like Thom Mayne and consorts knowing that to win it will be impossible. But we were expecting to see all submissions to be able to compare and learn from this costly experience. However we are deeply deceived by the attitude of the organizers of this competition. Following information I have received from the responsible of this contest, Mr. Barry Cheng, they don’t have intention to show all submitted projects. He answered to my request the following: « After the stage two, the proposals for the finalists will be published on the web site ».Why?
So I think the initiative of the Spanish architectural revue « Future » in the case of the fake competition “ThyssenKrupp Elevator Award Dubai ‘08” to publish some of non awarded projects was good. I like the idea to publish on your web site ALL Submitted projects.
I would like to express our disappointment by the lack of a basic civility from the Chinese (Taiwanese) organizers of this competition. Till now we have not received a single word with a meaning of « THANKS » for our efforts, time and money spent for this project.
can we see your concept boqdan47? do you have any idea of wat sites did other competitors display their proposals? Ive seen some in www.archdaily.com & www.designboom.com
I would like to share our concept with you and other competitors. Till now I have not displayed yet. I have no idea where other submissions could be seen. Please let me know if you will obtain any information about the number of submissions and how do they look like.
Concept, you may see my concept on the web site www.tpda.be on the following link http://www.tpda.be/TPDA/Projects/Pages/Taipei_Pop_Music_Centre.html#3
